This is an image of one of my art majors during high school. The painting continues across 3 canvas' which join together to create the one image. It was an artwork which I created under the guidance of a new teacher and I sincerely thank her as she taught me to look at things a little differently than how I normally would. For example, when making copies of different colour schemes to be used in the final painting, I recall her asking me to look go outside and look at the colour of the tree trunks. At the time, I had always thought that they were brown, but infact was taken back only to realise that most tree trunks are actually grey with only a hint of brown. This then sort of acted as a turning point where I would take greater detail into looking at the things around me and realising that not everything is as it seems.
b) Great Piece of Architecture:
'Fallingwater'- Frank Lloyd Wright

This piece of architecture astounds me because of its ability to be structurally sound without having the need for the whole building to be on level ground. I would also consider it great because it sits harmoniously with the surrounding environment where even the interior design of the house, with its stone floors and rock patterned walls, mirror it's environment. Water flows from beneath the building, allowing the water to look as if it is emerging from the mouth of the house, allowing nature to look dependent upon this man-made structure.
Things can be classified as beautiful for a number of reasons. My reason for posting this image as something beautiful is not because of its looks, but because of all the meaning and memories which lie behind the image. This photo was taken last year during a holiday with my friends after the completion of high school. It stands beautiful to me because it reminds me of all the good things in life we have shared and joy of being able to just be ourselves with the ones around us.
